Where do you see yourself in 10 years Where do you see your TC and ability to solve LC in 10 years
I would like to be in a senior managerial role in 10 years. TC wise, I would be satisfied if I can reach ~500k. Tech changes really fast so I feel that it can be hard to keep up with it and also compete with younger folks whereas team managing skills will likely always be in demand. LC solving ability will definitely go down in 10 years if I don't practice but it shouldn't be too hard to get that ability back with a couple of months of grinding, even 10 years later.
How hard is it to switch from Cupertino to a team in Seattle?
How long do you think you’ll stay at apple?
Not sure really. My team is pretty chill and not as toxic as some of the other teams at Apple. Also, I am working on something that's meaningful to me. TC wise, I got lowballed because I did not have strong competing offers at the time but I am making comfortable money. I guess I will stay as long as these things don't change and it's not super hard to move up the ladder to ICT5 which is terminal for most folks (I am currently at ICT3).
Where’s your location?
I’m trying to look for business intelligence positions in apple, what is the typical title for it? Thanks
Team dependent but most of them are called 'data scientist' or 'business analyst'.
Your yoe? And where were you before apple?
0 yoe before apple. I was finishing up my phd.
I heard that the hiring is really slow at Apple these days? Is it true? I applied via referral but still no contact from recruiter Yoe:1.5
What do you work on? Relative to your PhD?
I am in the watch team. My work is not very related to my PhD although I use many of the mathematical and computational techniques that I picked up in school.
Do think the lack of relevancy affected your TC?
Is ICT4 considered a terminal level at Apple ? Are you a Research/Applied Scientist or a vanilla SWE ?
ICT5 is considered terminal by most people. My title is SWE but my role is a healthy mix of SWE, science and ML.

How long do you plan to work for?
As long as I can get hired and am physically and mentally able to work. I think I would get really bored if I retired. I am 26 now so I am looking at ~40 years of work.
