What do you guys want to talk about within our industry? I read this article today about Disney's Indian streaming service! Good read~ https://techcrunch.com/2019/05/12/hotstar-disneys-indian-streaming-service-sets-new-global-record-for-live-viewership/
It started way back independently, got acquired by Fox and now Disney.
It was not acquired by Fox, it was incubated as part of 21st Century Foxâs Star India (a Fox company)
What kind of stuff do they stream? Is it mostly Indian content or western content?
In India they have Western content too, in the US they have Indian content including sports
Didnât know that shit is Disney owned...had assumed Ambani owns everything light touches in India
They lack content.
It mainly streams sports content. Below average selection of movies or independent content. It has hit bonanza by owning IPL streaming rights and few other sports leagues.
The App is so shitty. During worldcup with 16mn viewers, the quality of stream became horrible
You sure it wasnât your internet slowing down? đ
Good time for a careers page too. With Disney, Warner, and NBCUniversal all launching major streaming initiatives this space is about to get interesting.

Hotstar's streaming service is very good engineering wise, it works well even when slow internet services in India.
This was the first time I heard of them... But looks like they are killing it
They are pretty huge in India, more subscribers than Amazon prime and Netflix put together
