I notice it is recently getting worse, especially after drinking coffee. I could not control it until I get out of my focus mode. Did anyone know someone or experience it? If so, what should I do to effectively reduce /stop it?
Put some sriracha on your nails.

Apply moisturizer or some skin cream and it’ll make human meat less edible.
I scratch my [head] hair. Do not recommend.

It is called onychophagy some also pull hair (trichotillomania) triggered by impulse control disorder and or ADHD... journaling helps do not drink coffee and exercise.

In a similar boat, but instead of doing it while in deep focus, I do it when I’m stressed, nervous, or stuck on a problem at work. Good luck.
Same, I guess drinking coffee increase my anxiety hence things start to go out of control. How did you avoid it, I am curious?
Sadly I don’t avoid it. In the past I tried limiting it to a finger at a time (baby steps) and that worked for a bit, but some big projects at work undid all of my progress.
