I want to take a one-year break from programming and focus on other things in my life, friends, family, international traveling and etc. I'm not financially free although I have enough savings to live for at least five years. One of my concerns is that, what does that make me look in front of future employers? When I come back from my break looking for a job again, would they give me an interview or just skip my resume? What does it mean for my future career?
I don't think it'll lock you out, especially not once you have top tier companies in your resume. It might just slow you down.
I already took 2.5 months off once... And planning to take 6 months break next year. I'm not worried about it how it will look.... But maybe I should be? lol
Go for it...YOLO!
Unless you got fired or did non impactful work, you'll be fine. Just say you were working on side projects that didn't pan out and wanted to travel. One year goes by so fast, it won't even matter much.
Go for it
Accept that your net worth will take a hit, but you’ll instead have many valuable experiences that you can look back on.

It's totally fine, 2 of my teammates did it. They even got hired back at the same place, you can also interview around though
