I watched the movie Booksmart and came to wonder - have I wasted my life?
This weekend I watched Booksmart. It’s an absolutely amazing movie.
But it got me thinking, as someone who was focused throughout high school I never got the “rewards” the main characters got. I never got into an elite school.
I also focused on school in college. Did 4 internships and saved a bunch of money and did research and got into a FANG with multiple backup offers (albeit Amazon). But even at the age of 23 I feel like I haven’t “lived” as much as the elites in the movies. I’ve never been in love or gotten external validation for my accomplishments or been to a party like the ones in movies. All that, and I’m still considered mediocre compared to people like them (that do exist!) at local schools like Harvard and MIT and Yale and the rest of the HYPSM+Ivies
How can I make up for lost time? I feel like I’ve wasted my life.
