What should I do if I can’t showcase anything I’ve designed?
Why do you need to showcase? For interviews? I too work in b2b. Is it not sufficient to tell them what you’ve done?
Most stuff I done is still in development....
If you’re not smart enough to generalize intellectual property then you don’t deserve to showcase anything.
I indeed don’t know how to generalize... Any tips here? This is my first job and it’s B2B, so I have no clue.
Recreate offline or in a lab, take screenshots and blackout branding, run the solution with sample data and capture the result. Document the concepts and generic design. IP is very very specific and when you remove branding and slightly alter it, you can document and show it off without giving away the company secrets. When you add something to your portfolio what you’re really doing is demonstrating your capability. It’s about your output.
What's stopping you from creating a private password protected portfolio of the work? That way only a prospective employer will ever know and you can pull it down as soon as you're done interviewing?
I agree with password protecting some of your work if you don’t have the time to block things out
My entire portfolio was “blocked out” so to speak. Wasn’t a problem. Kept the discussion around process and methods and thinking.
You could make your own variation of the design and not brand it at all. You’re showcasing a concept and I guess a little different end-design won’t matter.
Why do you need to? You could always build something on the side...
Unfortunately I never did since I start this job...
