https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-09-17/ibm-is-being-sued-for-age-discrimination-after-firing-thousands Personally impacted by this every time a recruiter scans my profile or resume. As if older engineers stop learning (they don't). Companies are laying off more expensive genXers in favor of cheaper, more "passionate" aka crunch-tolerant younger workers. Calling it a skills shift will not hold water to a non techie judge who wont see the difference between a PHP or Node programmer.
This just makes me sick and how can it be tolerated??? Is this part of diversity that Tech companies keep harping about??? There are more prejudices in Tech than any other industry I have ever seen.
Are we supposed to act surprised? The time of the millenial is now.
What’s the difference between PHP and Node?
They should penalize IBM to the max and make an example out of them so no other corporation would even think about it ever again. This should not even be a topic of discussion or even make news.
Great timing. Microsoft ,unfortunately, has injected too much of IBMers jumping the ship that also brought this culture of discrimination, gaslighting and silent retaliation into our "used-to-be collaborative" culture. And no, as a people manager, I did not discriminate in hiring people of all ages categories.
people are the same in everywhere
