The idea of moving to London from Redmond sounds so exciting, but I didn't realize how low the offer would be. ($230k equivalent for a T6) I am currently at $420k - TC at msft. Can I go back to team matching? Find a completely different geographic area completely?
Yes
Anything forbids you to travel to London every once in a while? No need to relocate there from the sweet spot.
Since you also have a competing FB offer, I’m sure you can get much better number from both if you negotiate right. I was offered around ~£130k TC at E4 at both, and they would’ve gone a bit higher (but I had a great third offer I decided to accept). That is a bit more than $180k, so at E6 you totally can get more than $230k.
Thanks this helps a lot. I guess I'm still going to have to realize there is going to be a big gap from my earning potential from the US
Yes, unfortunately there is only a handful of smaller companies in London with pay comparable to the US, and AFAIK even less so at higher levels. Good luck with your offers, hope you’ll figure it out
I am glad I live in the US. Salary is double compared yo the rest of the world. Then go back home with a million USD and good for life. Lol
What level are you at currently at Microsoft?
Gosh, 230k€ for living in London is still a tons of money.
what do you mean? they gave you 230k as a T6?
My packet just moved through HC, at compensation committee right now, should be getting an offer next week. Based on threads on here other T6ers in London are getting an offer for $230k - significantly lower than what I would be expecting. I'm wondering what would happen if I ask the recruiter if I can say no to this offer and go back to find another team in the US or something with a better offer.
I think London salaries are very different from bay area / US
