Tribute to Qin. Hats off to the tech lead for taking it up on YouTube. The techlead got balls made of steel... TC : 180k Yoe 12
No matter what people say about Techlead, he did do a good job with the transparency regarding the situation. Facebook prides on their “openness” and “transparent” culture but why do internal employees only find out anything about Qin after Techlead makes a video about it?
Techlead did a great job with this particular video. I like how he didn’t include his usual ads and humor out of respect for Qin and out of the seriousness of the situation
I guess no advertiser wants to be on this particular episode though.
It is odd that blind is censoring so much given that these sorts of events are the defining moments that legitimately show why apps like blind are needed.
@bobagirl can you post link to Chinese forum? People on blind are too afraid to talk, and i want to know more
For reference, TechLead’s video is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbEQriZEfoI I normally don’t watch him but this was a must-watch.
Hope fb won’t sue his ass off.
I may be wrong but I fail to see exactly on what grounds he may be sued. Were he still employed by Facebook then absolutely yes. But here he is mainly voicing out stuff from Blind with screenshots. Sure it is internal threads he is posting but it is not his fault that Blind has no way to revoke access.
Very bold from the TechLead and much appreciated! Those insights needed to come out as there are way too many kids lured by the high TC of Facebook without having slightest bit of idea of what they are signing up for and if they will be able to take it. This video will prevent lot of weak hearted technically strong engineers from joining Facebook (hopefully!)
Techlead is phenomenal. Hats-off to the guy. Respect for him!
Why is the RIP Qin Chen post no longer there on blind?
This one
I wish techlead was still here at facebook. He spoke up what other employees are too afraid to say.
That’s authoritarian. F**k, FB. Why are smart and bright engineers like you continue to work for bad management? There are many other good tech companies out there.
But not with the pay
