I'm trying to understand the point of applying using a company's career site for applying. Should the developer community tell recruiters that approach for the resume to look up their database for the details so that they start using what the company had built :)
Applied to Google via referral for several years, didn't even get a recruiter screen. Recently applied via their career site and went through their full interview process. Just got my offer this morning π I recommend doing both.
What makes you think only referrals work? I successfully (offers) applied to FB/GOOG/AMZN without referrals and I am a nobody.
My experience has not been the same.
I'd say this is an actual problem outside of tech. In tech currently recruiters reach out to you or when you apply you have a decent chance of hearing back without a reference. Outside tech though it's basically connections and those are the people getting ahead
Itβs all about establishing connection and building relationship.
If only referrals work, there'll be no equal opportunity to everyone. There'll be a cluster of people with strong networks getting all the opportunities π€·ββοΈ
Sounds familiar...
Isn't that how Government worksπ
