Bleh. There have to be cooler people out there somewhere. It's too bad TK doesn't seem to have grown enough of his own people. He could use his own Satya Nadella (internal, well respected, experienced with the company's definition of cutting edge and long term direction) I think TK was the right CEO for Uber and probably still is... But the dude really isn't mature enough to lead the company to its potential (understandably... there probably aren't any people around who are capable of creating both explosive growth and a very stable environment)

Yeah, trying to remember one cool thing GE did under him. Dropped performance rankings, moved HQ to Boston to save taxes... exactly what you expects from high tech CEO

Look for the current culture for guidance...any new person radically different from Travis will be hard. Bad kids don't like to be corrected, even if it's in their own practical best interest. They have a toxic culture from second hand experience and of course all the detailed info all over the web

Those "bad kids" built a bigger faster company than you'll ever be a part of. Not everyone joins a company to sit on their ass and be pampered and have nothing to show for four years of coasting.

Good for you. You are responsible for Uber's success.

Uber culture by all we hear from people inside, isn't really bad. Being hated by the media can be inconvenient. TK does have strange skills at rubbing people the wrong way ... Maybe the Ted Cruz problem... The face and smile themselves are unusual and evoke some automatic distrust. And there's the general sense of someone who bends the rules too often, even when he's not really wrong to do so. Government bureaucracy and corruption are hardly good things to bow to.

Ted Cruz is hated because he is sanctimonious. Right wing senators hate him.

Well, he was winning, minus Trump (more through backers support than real charisma). But he does have that slightly sleazy thing going... And as various people have said, his look / smile is odd. Humans are instinctively judgmental on all kinds of things.

Uber has only one true CEO: Travis Kalanick! :D More pragmatically, one might first want to define what qualities are needed to propel Uber to massive success. Both in internal terms and in terms of market opportunity and threats. Immelt doesn't seem like an intuitive fit for Uber, but assuming he's intelligent... The first requirement for doing the CEO job well is clearly defining the problem space and not just going after questionable celebrity. Immelt hasn't done much heroic stuff and Uber isn't exactly a stable company. Uber's position is more dangerous than Yahoo when it was given to Mayer. If Immelt is going to propel Uber to greater heights... We first need to know that he's thinking about the right things and additionally, can deal with Uber's culture (in terms of winning respect and being able to move the company and its people to do shit better) We currently have shit information on those subjects. Nobody wants a Marissa Mayer situation (in the sense of her not creating expected results - otherwise, she did fine)

It appears that Immelt isn't interested in the position (news)
