Implications of leaving fb within a year of joining

Leaving fb after 10 months as a DS M1 for a late stage startup. The role at the startup has much bigger scope and a lot of high probablity upside. Its just an opportunity that I can't say no to. Does anyone know if facebook has any policy against people who leave within a year? If not, would it be easier yo get an interview with facebook if I decide to apply in the medium/long term future?

Which startup? If you are leaving on good terms it shouldn’t be an issue. When you do reapply they will want to know why you left and why you want to come back so if you have a reasonable answer to that it should be fine. Besides if you come back after having learnt/grown/accomplished new things that is a plus. Also, left to go to startup for opportunity to learn/grow is a reasonable answer if asked. Good luck. Don’t overthink about what fb will think and be aware that there will always be some subjectivity in how different people will view things so depends on hiring mgr but generally shouldn’t be an issue at all. Good luck in your new role.

Curious, aren’t you getting that scope at FB as M1? Also how is WLB for last 10 months ?

The WLB is okay.. Its about 50 hrs/week for me. But it could vary a lot dependong on the team you end up in. For the data science org, on average, the WLB is worse then what you would expect from a big company. But its definitely better then a starups.

This is at will employment , it is illegal for any company to use this as negative. You can sue them. Do what you think is right for your career .

This is so wrong. They can hold leaving against you. They usually won’t but they can
