How management decides who performed low ? Based on which parameters or they have their ass kissers who tell them ?

Can’t believe that’s a question from BOA. Don’t you guys do nbox calibrations during performance review?

You can reallocate developers to other active projects. Can't do the same with PMs.

Projects start moving faster after PM is gone. It's a win-win for the company.

There should be a reason for layoff. It could be that PM didn’t guide the project to right direction, didn’t assign correct priority to feature, didn’t prevent failure, couldn’t succeed. He/she should get fired. In all other cases, still PM should raise flag, guide to success, change the developers to prevent failure. Again PM.

Contractors. Although I'm not sure if they get counted in layoffs

This is perfect answer... contractors fired first because they are least liability

    • Untrue. In a place with contractors generally they are above average in talent so the PIP percent is boosted from 5% to 10% and deadweight FTEs are let go...

Yes , for example , some contractors are above average compared to FTEs at WMT. They never get laid off.

Hmm.. this makes sense too... but I was thinking like contractors are the one who is more costlier then FTE, also Laying off FTEs are harder as they need to give them compensation packages.

Also contractors have contracts. So can't technically fire them ? U can give all the cash to the consulting company for free if ur feeling very altruistic

The employee with enough time to share their worries around layoffs on social media, but not enough time to bust ass and work like someone that does not want to be laid off.
