Indeed vs OCI vs Qualtrics

Got offers from these 3 for Senior SWE positions. TC is comparable and in the range 270 - 300.
Indeed is more cash heavy and rest both are RSU heavy.
I am mainly looking for more impactful work, flexibility in working hours and better growth prospects.
It looks like Qualtrics has lots of room for growth but worse benefits and limited leave and WFH policy. So I am leaning towards OCI or Indeed. Wondering if ppl had similar choices and chose one vs other ?

Currently senior(L63) at Microsoft, YOE 8.

+1 on Indeed. I have been here for 3+ years and # of employees has effectively quadrupled in that time. High growth means challenges as well, but definitely more positive.

@evolver do you see enough interesting projects in Seattle office compared to Austin ? Also, what is fueling Indeed's growth ?

@srchjob International expansion across teams, and new product dev are the fuel. Both offices are growing, but SEA is effectively doubling next year. More opportunity to pick your projects, if that's what you want.

Management in Seattle office is questionable. Projects there are maybe interesting and maybe pointless

@emasame, can you comment on the wfh policy ? Heard it's generally discouraged.

Honestly it just depends on the manager. Some are more flexible than others. While they generally want you in the office, if you have an appointment or are sick or anything, they are pretty lenient.

Work from home often. Company respects their employees and growth opportunities are plentiful.

@srchjob my manager lets me WFH whenever. It’s case by case. The official policy is no wfh, but no one cares at all in Seattle. Provo is supposedly different from what I’ve heard.

I can also vouch for WFH policy. What they say is official policy. totally depends in team/manager. I know people who WFH just because they want more focus time

Should also mention Indeed does not have nighttime and weekend on-call. There is an SRE team in charge of that.

How was interview experience in all of them? Are you in Seattle or Bay

All in Seattle. Interview level was almost the same, though Indeed being the longest and a bit unique. I felt Indeed's coding question were also bit harder.

Were all coding questions from leetcode? And by level lc hard/medium/easy? Are questions tagged with company? Did you have phone screen as well? Easy or difficult?

You'll love Indeed. Great work life balance, strong growth and awesome benefits. Also guaranteed cash, as you noted. I came from Microsoft and I still love it here (Seattle office).

Fwiw we're likely going public soon and I think the stock will be pretty good.

No one actually track leave. Pm me if you want to know more

The “not tracking leave” is team-specific. Some managers track it closely.

Fair. My team doesn't. I think the more senior you are the less people care.

I don’t know about Qualtrics, but John Thimsen is great. I’d work for him again in a heartbeat.

They won't tell you real level while recruiting and Senior is level 3 which is staff must places. Offer is in top of 3 band

I’ve been with Oracle for almost 4 years and I really enjoy culture and environment here. Lots of opportunities and we have several openings at the moment. I recommend OCI team! I’m very optimistic about the current strategy and what we have lined up for the next months/year

What is your current base at ms? Did you get msa? What level? If you arent getting at least a 20% increase and you value impactful work I would definitely stay at ms.

Currently L63. I did get good amount of SSA this year but still my TC is well below current offers as my joining RSUs are all vested.

      What is MSA ?
      Oct 16, 2018
    • Microsoft DOyu71
Are you asking what SSA is? Special stock award granted above and beyond the normal refresh stock levels. This last year Microsoft gave 30-125k stock awards to most of its product facing devs.
