Indian Guy - Peaceful life in Europe vs Rat race in Bay Area

I am in a confused state, should I choose a peaceful life in Europe with less salary, less growth, but nice wlb and piece of mind or follow the rat race in Bay Area ?? Please advice

If any recession happens in recent future, which place would be better stable ?? Also I am on visa and I may loose chance to come back to US

Your baseline premise is wrong. Europe will not be a peaceful place in 10 to 20 years. If you paid attention politically, at all, you’d know that.

We’re on the precipice of some bad times and immigrants, especially brown ones, are going to be targets.

Way to read into what wasn’t said or implied. Just attacking the assumption that life in Europe will be “peaceful.”

You should write in your OP that you're Indian. All these commenters assuming you be European mate.

Also what's the fascination with moving to declining economies? China, USA, India, South East Asia are the places to be right now - in that order.

Go to EU. I miss that place. It’s fucking awesome. Being paid less is not something that’s going to define your life there. As well it doesn’t mean you will work on something less important

Czech is near impossible to learn mate. Look up the word for Thursday. All you'll learn is how to order 1, 2, or 3 beers

Kind of. Unless you're planning on partying with the 20 year olds, you'll have a rough time with their English and vice versa

Don't experiment on basic living values. Europe is not as good for immigrants for many reasons (language, socialism, stronger culture, etc.). The rule of thumb on private life is this: it's supposed to be easy not difficult. It's easier in US to raise a family and retire. The only reason you should consider Europe is if you have visa issues.

I disagree on raising family in US as we can see plenty of violence in US public schools and highly education is damp costly compared to many European countries

Raising family in EU is hell a lot easier. It almost seems like US says - we will bring new people, don’t bother making kids, go to work

Seriously you forgot India which is a booming economy and going instead to Czech? What the fascination dude?

In salary vs wlb/QoL, India is best in neither. EU has a culture of better work life balance in general, better air, better infrastructure, cheaper travel. If economy is the dominating factor, better to stay in US and make $$$ than India.

If you have enough money and are in decent standing in your career, definitely go to Eastern Europe. Western Europe is swallowed by third world immigrants. Sweden, Germany, UK and France are worthless places to in.

World is connected much more than before. Recession here would impact many places, so you cannot escape that. Stay put work hard and enjoy what you have.

A multinational in Europe. So that you can come back on L1 if you want in the future. Overall life in Europe seems better, but not sure what the reality is. Could be the case of grass is greener.

Give some thought to what you want personally in your life. Not just career and money, but the kind of partner. The kind of children, values etc. Whom you want to be close to. That might tell you more about what you like better.
