Indian passport police verification issues ?
I‘ve been in the US on H1B visa for the most part of the last decade but was in India for a 8 months in 2015 where I applied for my passport renewal. I was issued a new passport in one month without any police verification ( even though I didn’t apply for the tatkal service ). They didn’t do my police verification for months when I was there and like always only came to my permanent address ( on passport ) when I stepped out of India. My parents tried to explain the situation but the police won’t have it and put a negative comment on my police verification report. I haven’t had any issues in using my passport when entering or leaving the US or India. On my last short trip to India when I went to the PSK ( Passport Seva Kendra) for getting Police Verification for Canada PR they told me I had a negative police report on my file due to verification on being completed and needed to get that fixed. I went to the RPO and they said they’ll do a Police verification again, but like always they didn’t send any police for verification till I was in India. While I have no issues using my passport I’m stuck with my PR process at the Indian police verification and won’t be able to apply for Global entry in the us either. I’m worried my next passport renewal coming up in a couple of years will be affected by this too. I called the Indian consulate in my region and they said they couldn’t help me with it. How do I get this issue resolved from the US ?
You have been too long outside India. Heard about bribe? Next time you go to India. Pay up and they’ll do it the same day.

Yup, go to police station and pay up requesting a next day visit.
Next time stop being cheap and go for tatkal and stay at your permanent address until the verification. Usually the verification happens within two days, if not you can calll your local ps ans get it done. Regardless if everything's ok, cough up the biribe the guy is expecting. Done!
I wasn’t being cheap when I didn’t opt for Tatkal ... I had heard most friends who had opted for tatkal tell me how much they were harnessed by the rpo and police cause they knew my friends needed the passport urgently
That's what caused the issue imo. You should never let the guys know the reason you applied for tatkal. They can and they will take advantage of this, as they did in your friends case. Usually the 'normal' process takes any where between 3 months. If you leave before before that time frame, its your problem. I applied for tatkal for my entire family and mine included in tatkal. Got it within a week and with a clean police record. Of course had to pay up the bribe despite being a legal resident (,this was when i wasn't at home and verification was for wife).
Well go there explain your problem. They will start complaining about the process. Show your sympathy and give the money for the “pain they are taking”. They don’t even care if you are not an Indian they will give a very good report 😂
You can renew your passport in USA, that’s simple. You need to visit your police stations, or districts/regional passport office, it should be simple process to get this fixed in India
I did go to the RPO ( they said they’ll initial the verification again ) and then I went to police station after a few days they said they didn’t have the new request yet and would only do anything once RPO sends them the new request to initiate verification
Simple, just give some "chai paani" and see magic happen.
Doesn’t a negative comment on your police verification report come only when there’s a criminal case pending?
