I left recently left a Big 4 accounting firm (advisory) to launch a resume writing and career advancment service. Huge success and I nearly hit my old corp salary ($91k) in 5 months. Looking to partner with companies in 2020 to be their outplacement service provider as I think I’d do a better job than 90% of the shops doing it. Are directors of HR who I should speak with? Is this something that is actively reviewed on a yearly/quarterly basis?
I’ve been in HR my whole career and have never heard of resume writing as something offered in a severance package. I could be wrong but that’s very surprising to hear. I think there’s a huge b2c market for this though
Interesting, it’s definitely a b2b side of the business and growing
I was laid off my uber two months ago and this service was included. Provided by RiseSmart
How was your experience?
Completely useless unless you're really new to the industry and have no freaking clue
We used to review our vendor for these services on a yearly basis. Depending your target companies, I would speak with HR program managers, employee services managers or benefits managers who typically manage these vendors and contracts. Directors of HR may be ok for smaller companies but if they are at a large place, they hardly have any influence over the decision making process. They just extend what is handed to them by the COEs.
Thank you so much this is exactly what i was looking for! Do you have insight into what time of year this was reviewed?
It was usually March/April at my last company but I don’t think thats necessarily the case everywhere. Good luck!
Are you talking about that George Clooney movie where he flys around firing people and giving them folders lol?
We just reimburse people on coaches they want to use within specific financial limits.
What does that have to do anything with severance?
Severance packages at good firms typically include some sort of job seeking assistance. It helps from a brand/reputation perspective
