Location: Redmond Any insights are appreciated. Please comment your responses.
Could you please explain more? It would help me make my decision easier. I was initially offered Alexa AI in Seattle but I wanted to stay back in California due to persona reasons. Why is it awful?
Re: Alexa Shopping. Is this something you would use? Do you think it will be successful?
Actually I don’t think so. I mean I would see anything before I buy. So I am not sure if it would be successful or not. Saying that what would you advice based on my current situation?
Echo show, alexa on TV and tablets can let you to view the product you want to buy. So, alexa shopping has potential to be successful.
In general I've heard people don't enjoy working at Alexa that much especially due to constant re-orgs but there may be exceptions. At what stock price are you calculating the Amazon TC? Also seems like the Microsoft offer can be negotiated to at least have the same TC for first couple of years.
I’m calculating stock price at 1900$. And also 250k at Amazon is average over 4 years. The first year I will be making 261k at Amazon. Microsoft is 200k the first year, then 160k after that. Cause there won’t be signon bonus. And I’m saying 160k including base, stocks and 5% bonus. I tried negotiating Microsoft but they won’t budge a bit. That’s their offer and it’s fixed. They said they can’t go beyond that anymore even after showing competing offers. Please advice. I’m confused.
Depending on $1900 stock price sounds like a risk, and $160k at Microsoft starting second year sounds too low (as you'll have 3 years experience by then), not sure how their annual increments work- but have heard they don't increase much. There are many factors here, as to whether you want to move to Seattle or not. If you are closer to some kind of promotion at Oracle, I would get promoted to something like an SDE 2 first then switch jobs to get higher offers, especially from Microsoft.
