Is it worth it? In terms of money/impact/quality of work. @amd @intel
Martin Ashton did it and couldn’t be happier. More $, more impact.
Depens on team, work n TC😀
Impact is much higher. Money not so much. I think work life balance is incredible here but depends on the team.
How so?
OP, how was your interview experience at AMD?
I have one this week. I am still trying to understand if it is even worth it. I don't think TC will be better. AMD only has CPU and GPU products against all the other products Intel has (AI/FPGA/Memory etc) Sure AMD is eating Intel's market, but it's not like they are going to take it all over.
Which team are you interviewing with n which location?
Don't know both. Recruiter reached out to me and I somehow said yes to a phone call with hiring manager
Are there not many AMD folks on blind?
I think your question has been mostly answered. The culture is generally very good. Generally, cuz there are always jerks in any company. People are very friendly, open and helpful across the org. I've worked at Intel and this is in sharp congrats to what I experienced there. Lots of opportunities to work cross team and move to other teams if you decide to switch. High impact work and great WLB. Motivated hard working people grow fast. The downside is that the pay isn't all that great. If you're good and you have the right skills for the position, you may be able to negotiate to be at the upper end of the pay range for your grade. That said, there's not a whole lot of room for negotiation.
My team and work both are really good. I used to be in a smaller team and now in much bigger and high impact team. so i can really see the difference. Other than money, I don't really have motivation to move then. I have been very fortunate to have great managers and stable teams.
Intel is very versatile, with a huge portfolio of projects to choose from, butttt... The collection of projects depends very much on geo location, so sometimes it is verrry difficult to join a team that has no presence on your site (relocation aside): You need to have someone inside that team to vouch for you and even in that case nothing is certain. No idea how that works at AMD.
Nope
Do you have experience?
