Internal Transfer limit? Amazon

Are there limits to how many times you transfer internally? Or a time period of when you can? For example, can I transfer from one team to another after being there for 4 months? Just a hypothetical example.

There's no longer a limit. Beware that doesn't mean all managers will let you come in with such little tenure. Lots of times that's a red flag.

As of I know there is 1 month notice period. And if the hiring team is willing to take you, you can switch n number of times.

It’s all up to the hiring manager. If you transfer every 6 months, that will be a big red flag. I transferred once after 3 years to try something new, ended up Hating my new org, and transferred again 9 months later and it was no problem. I am happy now, but if I probably wouldn’t think about transferring again for at least another year or two.

I am in the same boat currently. Transferred after 3 years and 2 months. Dont like my current team and its just been 7 months. Transfer again wont be a problem right?

I don’t think so. Any reasonable manager will understand that you ended up in a place that’s not a good fit.

I know a guy who keeps transferring every 15 months

Is this frowned upon? This sounds excellent especially if you’re young, technical and want to try new things

I did frown. But is subjective and also might affect your growth

Yeah I figured it would raise flags since receiving and losing managers have to converse anyways and probably can see your tenure with each team on the backend
