Hey guys, Currently a Junior at a state university (average reputation nothing special). Studying CS, one previous SWE internship at mid size company. Between the offers I have now (Dell in Seattle, Oracle in Seattle, Cap 1 in McLean, and JPM in unsure location). Which opportunity do you guys think would I learn the most from? Also, which would look better for getting interviews with FANG? I interviewed with Facebook but havenât gotten anything else from other big tech companies :/ Also, Iâd like to stay in Seattle for full time (where Iâm from), so I do have a leaning towards Seattle. in terms of comp my offers go: Cap 1 >> JPM == Oracle (roughly), >> Dell. C1 has best comp by a noticeable chunk, but Iâm not worried about $$ in the short term since my family is really well off. Also for those wondering, the reason I have Apple is because they have a program for college students where you work for them (part time corp employee). Not CS related however.
Whatever you do, don't pick JPM. There's a good chance you'll be placed in Delaware, and I had several friends intern there all with absolutely terrible experiences.
That doesnât sound too great haha. Yeah if I do choose a bank itâll be Cap 1 over JPM especially since my recruiter is being difficult with trying to get me to sign before discussing locations for sure. Not to mention the stipend for housing which is really disappointing.
They want you to sign first because they want to put you in Delaware which had absolutely nothing to do.
OCI. Oracle isn't part of FAANG, but it's still a top tech company with the same people who cycle in and out.
Oci my guy. I am leaving from jp to oci. Comp is really good for ft
Thatâs fair I imagine OCI full time comp > Capital One comp
Iâd go for OCI or Cap 1. Cap 1 would prob give you some good tech internship experience, good comp, also give you some life experience of working and living in DC. OCI would give you opportunity to lay connections and grow in Seattle, might be good if you wanted to work on AWS or Azure later on?
This seems like a good view on it. I feel like the biggest thing with Cap 1 is the exposure to a new city which would be nice after living in Seattle/WA my whole life. Oracle will likely be better for networking in Seattle and cloud technologies (maybe)?
