My wife is looking for summer internship but not getting any calls. Applying through LinkedIn, company websites etc. What more can we do?
Is your wife a dev or what field is she in? Also, YOE? Location? Etc
She is studying computer science, bay area and 2 yoe.
Summer internship might be somewhat late already. Look for fall ones. I've been in the same situation and here is what might help: - ask friends if they're looking. There might be a chance their company needs an intern. - look for local small startups. In my case it was the easiest way to get an internship. - have a few pet projects on her resume, so it looks flashy and stands out. Depending on her major, I did a few phone apps and a web app. Good luck to her. It sucks when no one replies, but gets much easier once she gets some experience.
Thank you very much.
Hope she finds a fun project. Don't let this discourage her. I remember how frustrating it was to keep getting zero response after broadcasting my resume to multiple places. And now, after I've got a year of experience, I keep getting messages from recruiters daily.
The fact that you have to stood up for her makes the reason clear that why she isnāt getting it. Let her figure this out on her own rather thAn being the āmanā in the house.
Have to network more! Go to conferences, tech meetups, company events, coffee chats, be visible and proactive
This never works. No one want to refer some random guy who met in meetups.
It's more for to know if there are any internship opportunities or any potential roles that the person might be interested in
I have always hired interns through the university, not directly.
