I just got an offer for a internship in sf with top fintech company for 47/hr and 74/hr overtime but with no housing. It's a swe role. I have another offer from Microsoft as a pm intern with a salary of 7345 per month and 7k relocation I think the pm role is cool but I love swe. But the lack of housing kinda sucks. Any advice ?
Thanks for the feedback! But I currently take out loans for school and I would love to lighten that load with saving some money over the summer!
Holy moly the entitlement. 7k/mo isn’t enough as an intern
how is it entitled when asking how to compare offers?
MSFT is definitely the better deal money wise. The bay area is more expensive and Washington has no state income tax, not to mention housing being ~2k/mo in silicon valley. You can definitely do either and if the fintech company really interests you that makes more sense, but if you care a lot about money (and name brand) Microsoft might be the way to go
Hey thank you I appreciate your honest feedback I guess a lot of people here are missing the fact that I'm just comparing offers
Yeah a lot of people here totally missed the point of this thread and it's really fucking annoying. But both sound like great offers so it's hard to go wrong here, just really depends on what's more important to you in a job. Good luck!
Congrats, follow your passion, and where you think you will learn the most. Even from a monetary perspective. that's the best in the long run.
Thank you ! Then I'll probably go to the bay!
Just ask them to match msft with 7k/mo amortized over 12 weeks. I'd recommend the pm role though just so you get a wider set of intern experiences.
What is amortized?
Why would you possibly expect housing? An internship is about you learning shit, you aren’t going to get rich doing it.
