Just wanted to give y'all a heads up that Waymo Internship program is pretty shit. It appears to be completely different than Google. They don't assist with the J1 Visa applications and salary is surprisingly low compared to Cruise Automation / Lyft / Nuro / Aurora / Argo AI. [Edit: In their defense, it's just their 2nd year hiring interns as an independent Alphabet company. I guess it'll take them a couple of years to sort out the HR side of things]
what’s compensation like and what’s bad about their internship program ?
How low the salary is? Intern salary does not matter, how about the full time salary?
Is there any company that actually sponsors J1 visas? I've applied to a few US companies last year and I haven't heard back. A friend of mine got sponsored by Uber for J1 but he had a close family member who had stellar performances and short-circuited the process for him.
MSFT does for research interns and postdocs
What does being a research intern entail? Is it like R&D or no development at all?
