I haven't interviewed in the last 6 years outside of MS. I am a Site Reliability Engineer and wanted to check the pulse in the market for Micosoft Stack. Have experience in c#, powershell, Azure cloud. Is it a must to have experience in Linux, chef, puppet and java to even get a interview call?
I was in C# for 12 years, but still got hired by Amazon. I was never asked or told about any languages. When I got the offer and spoke with the hiring manager who picked me, I finally asked him what languages I should prepare for. He was like “oh, we use Java and Spring”. It was a trivial point even at that stage. I’ve adapted to it just fine, but the move from Windows to Linux was a shock to my system.
