I am preparing for fang type company interview. Targeting junior engineer position( equivalent to google L4). Wanted to ask whether any of you literally memorized important info to shorten the interview prep process? Leetcode, hackerrank all is good, and I am doing few questions everyday, but I am not very fluent in implementing some basic ds/algo (e.g. Hashtable , quick sort, etc). I can code it but take some time (which is definitely more than 15-20 mins). I am thinking to prepare index cards to memorize key learnings regarding system design and basic ds/algo. Anyone tried this approach? Any general feedback?
What is your background? Have you taken a class about ADTs? Or learn by yourself before?. If not, then No. You can't expect to get into FAANG by memorization. Like any sports, competitive programming takes time and practice. Day in, day out. You can get better it over time, definitely.
I do have software background and a cs degree. Already familiar with all ds and algo concepts, but coding speed is slow. Also not much time spent yet on system design.
You will be fine. Good luck and happy learning.
Iโve always believed in memorization along with skill. You need both so good luck. Oh also if you wanna PM me a google sorted screenshot of leetcode questions by frequency Iโd really appreciate it!

yes it can work but if you do a decent # of LCs youโll naturally โmemorizeโ fundamental building blocks anyway
Yes make sense. Thank you. I am thinking of this approach to shorten prep time. In other words, adopting memorization for efficiency purpose ๐
