Interview processes at Salesforce from applying to getting a response.

I applied to a software engineer position at Salesforce on Monday but haven’t heard back from them. I know it’s too soon but just curious as to how soon would I expect to hear back and how much time will I have to prepare for the interview. Is there a phone screening, coding homework before the onsite?

Wait, you applied on the corp website two days ago and wondering why you didn't get a call back yet? Haha..Oh wait you're serious? Let me laugh harder. HAHAHA.

I applied through the website and the recruiter contacted me within a week. However I would not expect that to be common across the board. It depends on a lot of factors ranging from how efficient the recruiter is to whether the hiring manager is on leave to if you applied just before they finalized someone else for that position and were about to take the posting off the site.

Cool. I actually was contacted originally by a recruiter but I wasn’t interested in the position she had in mind. I found one now so, I’ll contact her with the job ID.

What’s the process? I’m assuming the regular phone screening and then the on-site? But I also heard about a homework assignment. What is that about?

Also, do you think it’s better to go through a referral or via recruiter?

Definitely better to go through referral. Much better response rate

Homework assignment is used only for some teams

Referrals will give you the best response rate. However I got in through applying online so do not discount that. A lot of teams use the RPT (remote programming test). Lots of people don’t like being made to do homework, which I agree with, but the one advantage is that you get two hours to sit down and think quietly without some interviewer breathing down your shoulder. Moreover the Salesforce RPT at this point is publicly available. This is a problem, but the number of horrible submissions we get is mind boggling.

Oh, no. Sorry to hear about your experience. Initially I also had a terrible recruiter but the last one that contacted me was very professional and helpful. There was just not a role that interested me until now.

I’ll contact this good recruiter that reached out to me. Thanks for the tips!

I applied to salesforce twice and got offers twice. First time was directly through the website a few years ago and I got a call within a day. Second time was last year through a referral and got a reply within an hour or two. Our recruiting is really good I think. Both times it was very smooth and professional.

It also depends on if the role you applied for is very active or not. There are “evergreen” job posts that every company has. For example just a generic “software engineer” role with no specific group attached. Those take longer for recruiters to sort through.

Go via Referral , it will be fast and works great.

I think 2 people sent me a personal message about my post but didn’t see it in time. I’m new to Blind and didn’t know about this feature. I think these expire... maybe.

Unfortunately I don’t have an internal referral. However I got a reply but it starts very generic (with a typo), sounds like the typical unsolicited LinkedIn request to determine interest in a company. What makes it sound legit is that he is asking for 3 different availability times to speak.

I’ll get in touch with my old recruiter instead.

    Thanks!
