Why Google? Interview question.
Why not?
Don't mean to be rude. Who asked you that? Recruiter or tech interviewer? If Tech interviewer, then they're being a PITA. But really any reason would work. A more directed response about working at scale, or working on the next moonshot (Google X, if you're interested in that), or working on the next consumer product (i.e. Stadia, Android, Docs, etc...). "Working on" could just as easily be replaced with "leading" if your previous work experience can show it. Hope this helps. All the best.
Brilliant!
Interviewer, trust me they ask the question. I did well on other sections so i moved on, but I was told to work on that question for onsite
I was asked it onsite in the "Googleness" part. I told them the truth - Google is a very interesting company doing cool work in a lot of different areas and I want to be part of it!
Respond to this question with information about you, not your skill set. Don’t say things like “I think my Javascript would be really valuable here blah blah”. Say shit like “I love self-education and learning new things every week, and Google has such an amazing culture of learning” etc.
When recruiter asked me the same question.. I said "Come-on, it is Google !!" We laughed and I added "I see it as a place where bundle of talented and nice people work together. I feel I belong to the group" ☺
