Interviewed with Facebook

Recently I had an on-site interview with Facebook for the Enterprise engineer role. After few days recruiter reached out to me saying that the interview feedback was positive but they decided not to hire. Further he said that there's another position open in Oculus (infra engineer) and asked me if I'm interested in it. A few days later another recruiter reached out to me about the Oculus position and said that I need to go through the full interview loop again to be evaluated for that position (She specially stated that I have to code in C++ for those interviews). Is it common at Facebook? I mean what's wrong with the decision if the interview feedback was positive, why not hire me??

Is Enterprise engineer role different than swe?

Microsoft JAYX67 OP Dec 13, 2018

Yes, Enterprise engineers mostly work on tools internal to Fb (at least that's what I heard from the blind community)

Itโ€™s a still a SWE right, so why the difference?

Facebook NopeNope! Dec 13, 2018

Because you are now interviewing for an entirely different position with different requirements. Any interview types that are the exact same arenโ€™t duplicated, but any that Oculus has on their loop and not on the Enterprise Engineering loop would be required by their candidate review panel to have the signals they need to make a decision.

The roles at Oculus are much more specialized than what we call "Genswe" or general software engineer.
