I always fail at interviews at Google or facebook. Even though after solving the problem and coding I know the code works for all scenario with optimized solution. But still gets rejected. While same question and answers works for other companies. What I am missing? How can I overcome it.
How do you know the code works? Did you actually compile it and run it? No bugs? Also, it depends on signals interviewers received. Maybe they didn't like your approach, you knew answers from leetcoding or you were too slow on easy problems
I actually compiled the code after interview to see if it works or not. Too slow I mean leetcode medium one question is expected on phone round . So I did that one question. Approach can be a issue but it was optimized code theoretically time complexity can't be improved space complexity I dont remember. But before coding I always ask interviewer Wat do you think of my approach if not satisfied I will try something else
Did you know the answers beforehand and coded optimal solution without discussing or interviewers seeing your thought process? That could be an issue.
Are you from China?
fb has behavior and design questions. You may failed those rounds
Are you sure you have the fastest possible solution and did you state what the time complexity was? Did you talk through the problem? How did you get along with the interviewers? There is a lot more to passing the interview than just getting the right answer. At least I know that for Google. I haven’t done FB
For phone interviews a lot of interviews will ask a simpler warmup question before the real question that They expect candidates to solve fairly fast. The number of candidates that spent all 45 minutes on a fairly simple problem is way too fuckin high. I’m sure most candidates that do this also assume they will get an offer, since they solved a problem optimally. Make sure you’re as good as you say you are, especially if this happens often.
I guess there is a big difference between interviewing with Amazon or apple Vs fb and google. As I was able to clear other two and got the offer as well
So it is expected to solve two leetcode medium in Google or facebook
In my experience no, but many claim it's becoming common
