I am getting an offer of 65k in Berlin. I am married with no kids. My work location will be near Sonnenallee. What area I should look for residence?
Too much to live, not enough to die. It’s ok-ish, but are you very junior?
I have more than 8 years of experience. I am software engineer by profession
Entry level salaries in the tech field are still around 50k. Germany is the cheap guy when it comes to salaries. If the company brand isn’t extremely stellar, then I’d not do it or ask for 7-10k more.
It's ok , berlin is quite cheap , expect to pay sound 800/1000 for renting a place in the city center , public transportation is cheap and works ok, I personally like Charlottenburg, a lot of nice restaurant/bars and shops
If you want to be secretly hated and laughed at by all your contemporary coworkers and have cheap wine spit in your commoner’s face during a mixer, then sure, settle for peanuts. It’s your life. Just have fun.
“Contemporary workers”?? Who the F are you? From what hole of illiterates did you pop out???
It’s a typical market pay in Berlin/Germany for a SWE. Not enough if your partner has no income though
Yes with a dash or racism
Definitely enough for living comfortably. Won't be able to save a lot though. Sonnenalle area has become a hip district in last years, so prices are rising. But Berlin still has great prices when it comes to eating out etc compared to most major European cities. Was born in Berlin, if you have specific questions, pm me!
You could make 3x that in the USA and pay about half as much in taxes, but your cost of living would be higher.
Its ok for berlin, you ll survive, but you want have much savinga. Id say try to look in the us if at all possible. Have been in similat situation.
Pre tax or after tax? Euros?
Pre Tax Euros
How much do you get after tax? If it’s 60% of that, then 39k, then you rent at a comfortable place for 1.5-2k per month, you have left 1250 euro per month for groceries, utilities, and more importantly having a fun life for 2. Doesn’t sound like a lot...
