A quick search and turns out this is not an isolated incident https://us.teamblind.com/s/snxVbCrD https://us.teamblind.com/s/pDFKze62 Here is my experience, a recruiter from company X stalked me to join saying I was a perfect match , blah blah. We connected and I said I am not ready. The recruiter then moves to Airbnb and a few months later I see a position open and I recommended a friend. No response , friends ends up at google (I know sounds fishy but whatever) A few months later another position opens and I reach out and the recruiter ghosts me. I have calls setup with every FAANG company. So its not like I have a bad resume. I totally understand that people might not be a perfect match but I am trying to point out that they didn't even consider me for a phone screen. At this point I am pretty sure Airbnb is racist against asians. Prove me wrong , I actually love Airbnb as a consumer so I want to be proved wrong @airbnb
For every butthurt Asian, there are a hundred more. Source: an Asian
I doubt it's racist against Asians. Most employees there are Asians. They are sometimes very bad at scheduling tho :)
This. Same for Google and Facebook. Full of Asians. Can't play the race card at any of these companies.
Lol. If you had an onsite here you'd see. 2/3 of eng and product are asians.
Well, that by itself is misleading... whether or not they’re fair to Asians depends on what % of applicants are qualified Asians, of course :)
🙄 no Google, if anything you should argue that since 2/3 of tech employees are asian that shows that AirBnb asian representation is not biased against them. Now since they're obviously less than that in the industry, If anything AirBnb is for them.
There are a lot of Asian Americans and Asian Canadians. They might be picky about your accent as it is popular among young Americans. It means they may not be used to talking with people with accent and poor grammar. I am an Asian and didn’t feel I was discriminated. As a common sense, I put more effort in communication as all of the interviewers were Americans. I failed but it was because of coding, not communication. I would like to add that those recently IPOed or preIPO companies are harder to crack than Google and FB.
If you read the post the recruiter and the team don't even respond. The very same recruiter who thought I was an amazing developer
Could just be seasonality. It’s end of year so budgets are probably getting used up. Heck this happens to us my fellow Splunk her
I’m white and most companies won’t respond to me if I give them my resume. That’s not racism. That’s just how jobs work. You have to let the company recruit you or have someone internal recommend you. Last job I got was because I knew a VP and the CTO.
Dude you're insecure. No one gives a fuck if you are Asian.
This. People love to jump to conclusions.
Eh what!? AirBnb is an Asian state..
OP - so because YOU didn't get an interview AirBnb as a whole is racist ? I see why they passed on you 😀. It was the right move.
This is one of those.."are you still beating your wife?" questions. Stop it
Of course it is. It’s a smug ultra liberal company run by white koolaid drinkers. Of course it’s racist against Asians. You’ll be better off at faang. At least at Apple Tim Cook isn’t aggressively delusional, but most executives are your typical white dudes in old boys clubs falling over themselves to be woke. Great example was a picture of some prominent contributors with an Indian guy as one of the 3 and he said this is not a great example of diversity. Lmao.
Aggressively delusional? Perhaps you're projecting.
