Is Cruise getting better?

There's a lot of bad things witten on blind about Cruise, no company is perfect, but are they at least getting better?

If anyone working there came from Tesla, how would you compare? (Tesla tends to get some bad press as well and is not that bad)

DM me if you don't want to post publicly.

I'm looking for honest answers, and not just "stay away"

Not sure how “getting better” is quantified and what is it relative to? Compared to stuff i keep hearing from friends and coworkers about tsla it’s already lightyears better. Now is it quite the rooftop rest and vest you’d find at google? No

Interesting..... so someone being at cruise for 4 months with 4 different managers, 10 reorgs, no negative feedback and no support from peers totally is under performing AND deserving of getting fired?

Yeah, because that seriously happened recently.

^ This. The amount of blaming others rather than taking a sincere and honest look at the culture is astounding. Yes, no company is perfect, but outright dismissing other people’s negative experiences (esp when they are so common) instead of honestly addressing them (even if your experiences differ) is symbolic of a dysfunctional culture. I think the comments here from Cruisers are directly reflective of Cruise’s culture at large.

I’m not blaming anyone or suggesting someone is shitty if they are unhappy, would honestly like to know which orgs this is happening in because it’s not mine, and I’m probably in a position to help

Cruise has massive problems with leadership maturity and ability to work together as one team. Yes the org has grown tremendously.. but the senior leadership is absolutely not working together to address lack of alignment and growing pains. There is a serious fear culture and shut up or you are next culture for those pointing this out.

another important thing: if you care about job security, don't join.
Even directors were let go with no warning.

no, it happened to everyone, including 2 SWEs on my team. My skip-skip manager was let go in the same manner. He cried on his way out :(

We have just hired in a lot from Tesla and their general feedback is Tesla was a nightmare compared to Cruise. I think a lot of the current complaints are due to the hyper growth and some catching up we need to do to better accommodate a much larger population. Coming from a truly volatile environment myself, I don't see Cruise nearly as bad as it looks here on Blind. A lot of work to be done, but a solid foundation to build upon.

Lol @ people complaining who haven’t worked at both. Sure things can seem bad to you, but it’s no comparison.🍿

It depends a lot on your team at Tesla, your work ethic, and your definition of “bad”.
