Is this even legal?
I ordered a pizza on Postmates for $10.99, it was an estimated price from their menu. Ended up charging me $21.99 because they got an XL instead of the pizza advertised as being $10.99 in the app.
Well that’s a delivery error that you could’ve gotten cleared up/refunded for if you called them. They actually have great customer service in those matters.
Good to know. It was my first time using the app, didn't even realize it was an estimate when I placed the order. Tipped immediately in the app based on what it was showing, didn't realize it changed between ordering and tipping until a few minutes later.
I don’t get it , whats the joke here ? You want food in comfort of your house, of course they will charge you for it. Don’t use it if u can’t afford it.
You’re paying for a human to drive to you and deliver your food. I just added a $7 McDonalds meal to my cart in Uber Eats and the total cost is $17 after fees. Fees are definitely gonna look really high on small orders
The issue is that they are hiding their service fees in the item prices. They are saying the service cost less while hiding an extra $2.61 service fee in the unit price, making it look like that's just how much the items would cost whether you use their service or go buy it directly.
Those prices are usually set by the restaurants I believe. DoorDash will sometimes set them if they’re not an integrated partner, so in that case the prices might be right initially but can drift off over time. Sometimes you see prices in Postmates, GrubHub, etc. differ from DoorDash because a restaurant updated the prices in one but forgot to in another. It actually seems like a tough problem. You want prices to be consistent to convey an honest message to the consumers but there are so many variables that go into doing that
I am just asking for transparency.. did I say it’s expensive? I just don’t get it when people say I care about price
I get what you mean, these apps make it look like the service they provide is a better deal by hiding the cost of the service in the item prices. Only way you can tell if the service cost is worth it is if you know what the actual prices are relative to the price the app says something costs at the place you're ordering from.
I hate, hate, hate invoices that add up so many miscellaneous things in the final bill. It is just a shady way for companies to show you a different price up front and upcharge a lot in the end. Coming to doordash, what else do you expect from this piece of trash
Because you’re b*tching about a pretty obvious business model on Blind. Lol What exactly do you want from us here?
try both GrubHub and DoorDash, use whichever is cheaper.
You must also hate mortgages, hospital bills, and the president. Seriously though, do you feel better when it's all lumped into one total so you can't tell? That's what most services are doing. You can complain about your cable charges because they're required by law to break them out. But Netflix isn't and will just arbitrarily increase its fees. No breakout, no complaints.
Delivery is a joke, especially for a small order like that one. Get competing apps to minimize the money stolen, but other than that you are at the mercy of the market with all its shady shit.
At the mercy of the market with all its shady shit, says the person benefiting from the most valued company in the world. 😂 Microsoft has been the only fair company, no tricks, no funny business.

The fees are low key robbery but it’s a business and all the delivery services are expensive like this. If you want to pay the price on the receipt drive to Jack in the Box and get your own food next time. 🤷🏻♀️
Then what is service fee?
Click on the info icon for their explanation. Lol They’re pretty clear and upfront about all the fees before you click to submit your order. I’m not understanding your issue here other than it being too expensive for you. In which case don’t get DoorDash delivery.
