Hello I had 4 technical (1 design, 1 system, 2 test questions), 1 behavioral interview. I aced design and behavioral and 1 test question, solved the other test sort of close to last minute (but working optimized solution), system knowledge was a good (although tough) and the guy hinted that I had the knowledge. Right now Im in team match and waiting for HC. Match with one of the teams is perfect (technical + generalist skills required). YOE: 14 Masters Deep embedded knwledge, + generalist in other areas (diagnostics, project coordination, team leadership, reliability, etc.). Current TC: ~340. Main question: Wondering if I should insist hard on L6 (likely they will offer L5).
You almost certainly won't get L6. If your not happy with L5, just interview somewhere else. They wont change level.
No one ever gets "downleveled". You accepted the level offered, which means that's your level. OP, with that TC you shouldn't insist on L6 unless you have 500k+ offers.
L6 and L5 are different interview loops, if your original loop was for L5, you will likely have to do additional rounds to go for L6.
Receuiter hinted at L5. How are the interviews different? More technical? Behavioral? What if I dont do well in second round?

What was the target level for the interview? They don't negotiate levelling, but they might offer to reinterview for L6.
