I didn't have a great experience with the interview... The question felt a bit too difficult to do in 20 min. Not difficult in the sense that it was Leetcode hard...but from a technical perspective it takes time unless you know exactly what you're doing... I couldn't finish but came with a high level todo... Does this mean I failed?
No they invite you to dinner
Netflix HM, and their HR work hard to understand the current gaps within their team. With that data they create criteria that they expect to see from the candidate in the interview process. So you may be an exceptional engineer, but not be a perfect fit for their current needs. Though I was passed on by Netflix yesterday, I respect the process. I think it’s positive insight into Netflix’s team efficiency, and managers that take ownership of their responsibilities.
We're you able to answer all the questions in time on the interview?
Yes I was. I fumbled a little bit due to nerves. The idea is to apply to job descriptions that list areas where you excel. If the description matches, as mine did, it’s important to showcase that properly in the short amount of time you have. In my experience interviewing with them, I learned that I need to focus on building my confidence in what I know. With that confidence, the fumbles I had during my phone screen wouldn’t have happened.
The team may be looking for very specific experience.
What was the question
I mean it's a specialized question... Not something you'd find in Leetcode
High level description doesn’t help, how can we know
