Been doing this work crap for 18 years: I honestly know no one (besides founders and government-types) who really has any semblance of job satisfaction — so if you’re going to be miserable you may as well get paid for it.
I never made decisions based on TC (Yet), but it's becoming much harder as TC went up so much. I spend most of my day at work and I prioritize how much I enjoy the work, am I learning & growing and, most importantly, how's my manager and team
Optimizing just for TC is, in my opinion, a bad short sighted strategy. Demonstrating your worth is the best way to quickly progress in your career and improve your TC. This only works when you are excited about the work that you do (at least for me)
