Is TC justified ?
Current - Modem SDET, 6+ YOE (San Diego) Got an offer in the Bay Area for Senior SWE in quality and infrastructure (Menlo Park area, AI startup) TC - 160/ 15000 shares(4 years) / 15k+relocation
It's not enough. I'm a new grad working in the bay area and I'm getting 130. You should be making much more than me
True, but it seems in San Diego companies are not that willing to go above a certain point . And working in the modem software test has very limited scope
With 6 yrs of experience, I am really doubtful if you can get more than $160k base since you are a SDET. Yes, 5% of the companies can pay you 10-15% more in base but that's not going to be easy. Also looks like are you a hardware QA. Not many networking companies pay that kind of base to QA with 6 yrs of experience More important - what's the strike price and Enterprise price of those 15k options?
15k cash as sign on and 6month merit increases. Strike price they said rite now it’s at $2
I am assuming the Enterprise price would be around $7-8 bucks and they are giving you $100k worth of paper money.
I have been practicing leetcode 300+ for a year now. Had Amazon, MSFT and AAPL on-sites already and 2 startups onsite . Passed the 2 start ups and AAPL, did not join AAPL as did not like the team. This is final decent offer. The other startup was in San Diego so lowballing .
How's the cost of living in San Diego compared to the bay area?
Depends where you live, UTC is expensive (2300 for a 1b 1b) but there are places which are cheaper. But opportunities as not as easily seen .
Sounds like a good opportunity to advance career even if TC isn’t as much for 6 YOE. What is current TC?

Decided to take this! Pros - higher base, working only on software(no hw shit ), amazing culture (no politics) , keep at leetcode and ask upto 200k base jump within a year at Bay Area. || cons - losing 60k In stock and bonus at my CC December(2019) (my time at Bay Area seems to be worth more)

No. 160 not enough in the Bay Area. Your shares are worthless unless the company is going public soon or getting bought out. Leetcode for a couple of months then try FAANG for real and high TC.
If everyone would listen to your advice, no one would make millions in IPO. I understand not everyone gets lucky, but without knowing the name of the startup, no one can comment.
