From what I've been reading, things are not looking good for Uber. Just curious, how long you think Uber can manage this aggressive pricing? What do you think will happen?
Not yet, but if that contractor lawsuit goes against them.... they might be fucked a little. And by little I mean a lot.
That lawsuit won’t go anywhere
California is planning laws to majorly fcuk Lyft and uber. 🥺
Might go way of Sidecar soon. If you remember what that was.
They're going to be okay... I've started noticing that they're increasing their prices.. Buy more Uber stock
Lyft has even more to worry about than Uber as they operate in only a single vertical (rideshare) and only in the US/Canada. AB5 passing is gonna hurt. Uber has a shitload of cash so should be okay for a while, assuming growth continues and losses are pared down.
Uber has no pricing power whatsoever. If they raise prices beyond a certain range, it brings them in the same zone as local taxis. People would not hesitate to ditch them. Lots of people, especially the middle income group, will also choose to sacrifice convenience in order to avoid paying a lot for commute. If they squeeze out more profits by keeping a higher commission from drivers while keeping prices low, soon they lose drivers because now those drivers flock to other part time jobs worth their time. Scoop, waze carpool are also hot on their heels and the awareness and usage of these 2 is only going to increase. The way I see it is it is a stalemate for them until self driving cars become a reality which has several years to go.
Dunno where u r. But would you seriously go back to calling, actually calling by phone, a taxi to come pick u from home??
A million other transit options if you're in a city. A big chunk of ppl were only taking Uber since the rides were $5.

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?

Gonna be the same as streaming services vs cable. Cheap af until competition all dies and they have monopoly. Then raise prices so consumers end up just as fucked or worse.
That game hasn't even played out so it's a bit hard to draw conclusions.
I mean, it's clear where it's headed if nothing changes. Back in the day all you needed was you $8 Netflix subscription. Now it's twice that and you need Hulu, HBO, and soon Disney. Not even including specialty channels.
