Was wondering if anyone had a MS in CS and could impart some advice of this path is a worthwhile one? Thinking about focusing on an AI path. 2 YOE in iOS, BFA degree in fine arts.
Do you need visa status? Then yes. If not, don’t bother.
Outside of visa status a MS in CS is generally only useful when you don’t have an undergrad degree in CS and want to get into a software engineering job since companies will treat you as a CS new grad at the end. For you specifically it may be helpful if you’re having trouble breaking into more prestigious companies because of no degree (not sure where you work), but if you’re already in a software job and have no trouble getting interview offers from tech companies it’s probably not worth it.
I couldn’t even get interviewed without an MS.
MS programs are full of international students. Would not recommend unless you don’t have authorization to work in the USA.
depends on a lot of things. typically the opportunity costs (both money and time) make it a no in your case, since you want a more specialized path and your academic background is not at all relevant, more of a yes. especially if you do something like the online Georgia Tech MS
