I like the outdoors in general and am looking to do trips in nature. The water in Banff looks really pretty but the rest looks kind of similar to Tahoe to me. The mountains are bigger but still... has anyone here been?
Been there and loved it. Banff and Jasper are two of my favorite national parks. It is not crowded like Tahoe and much more breathtaking. Lake Louise is beautiful. Go there around end of this month or early June.
Skip most of Banff. Spend your time in Lake Louise, Jasper and the road between Banff and Jasper, visiting dozens of stunning lakes that are way prettier than Tahoe, lots of wildlife around and with 1/1000th the crowds. If you like nature, this part of North America is probably the best there is.
How many days would you guys recommend to see banff, jasper, and lake Louise?
1 week . Stay 3-4 days in Banff and rest in Jasper
1 week minimum
We were there for 5 days. Our kids were preteens at that time and we were not sure how much of wilderness they could take. But, our concerns were misplaced and kids were just fine and we could have stayed longer.
It’s truly amazing place. The fact that USD goes farther in Canada does not hurt.
went to banff for icpc world finals, the only thing to do was stand on a glacier
Banff in the winter is amazing
Lake moraine (better than lake Louise, in fact most people see photos of moraine on the internet and think that is Louise) and Peyto lake. Out of this world. The whole drive from Banff to Jasper is awesome. Icefields good as well. I don't think USA has an equivalent that is as accessible by car.
