  • It's as final as the Java final keyword. There's still ways around it.

Do you have tips for those of us not familiar with negotiating?

Always be willing to walk away. That's gives you leverage

That still works. We might call your bluff if we suspect you are not going to walk away. I had people who had way better competing offers but are not willing to walk away and I stay put. There has been cases when even without an offer the person is ready to walk away and we adjust the offer

    It depends.

My recruiter came back with $210k as the final number. When I was going to walk to Amazon who dangled $280k, they were able to pull magic. But then again MSFT like to haggle like you're in a fish market, but that's fine because I like to play the game.

Nothing is final, but sometimes it is. The other companies (not FAANG) were out at $180-200k TC and couldn't move more.

It is, unless circumstances change, like getting a competing offer.

It isn’t final until they revoke it.

If we really want you, we can get approval.

I think the real question is what funding round and do they have an IPO runway and are they free of ratchets (see the UBC Unicorn Study about that)!

post series D, company still very young (under 5 years) , think more likely to get acquired than Ipo. in that regard - value of stock options only $200k over 4 years of paper money

If you have BATNA, try more. Otherwise more likely to be final.
