Is getting hired for tech companies more competitive in the northeast?
I've been applying for the past year in jersey/nyc/dc. No luck. Yet recruiters from Utah, Midwest etc are hitting me up. People keep saying I'm not getting a new job bc I'm limiting myself to the northeast. Is this true?
To he honest, east coast is a bit lacking when it comes to engineering companies. In DC it is very much who you know vs what you know. Go to meetups, network events etc for companies that interest you
Im originally from va currently in nyc. Down in dc, it's all govt contract jobs DoD with a lot of old guys running the show with outdated practices. Unless you get into google/amazon/msft, there isn't much. It's a lot easier in nyc and better tech companies / more startups with interesting ideas i feel like.

I'm tech, not engineering. Though I majored in it. Thanks for the info!
