Just curious, since if it's low maybe they'll hire me LOL. Would their employees say it's a good company?

    1. Hiring bar is low, however there is a training period where every engineer is evaluated weekly and underperformers are fired.
    2. TC is low, inspite of the low COL, compare salaries with Cerner's rival Epic and you will see.
    3. Cerner has high turnover, something it's managers frankly admit to in private.
    4. Cerner's best kept secret ? It is a favorite place for Microsoft and Amazon to recruit engineers, half the collegues who left during my tenure work at either of these places.
    5. I don't work there anymore.

Is it because the cost of living is so much lower, or do you think it's actually severely underpaid?

They are severely underpaid.....I feel it more unfair for senior engineer as they know what they are doing (most of them) ....I think for collage grad it's ok as bar is very low infact without Cerner ....some of these collage grad won't even get programming job

And cost of living lie....they use it to under pay
Only real estate or rents are low ......

Cerner is actually a great company to work at. It surrounded by great managers and alot of smart engineers. The culture at Cerner is also very similar to those in the bay area. The only serious problem is the pay. It is freaking low. One year of working there is guaranteed to overwhelm your LinkedIn with recruiters from FAANG especially. That's why engineers are leaving easily later unless they have their own reasons of staying such as visa issues or family reasons.

Hiring bar is low...TC is low.....even if you get promotion they don't give that much hike ...
It's good if you are running out of time(visa issues) or coming from non programming background and wants to learn enterprises software

Cerner on your resume will definitely Not make it weak. Tech stack is generally good (except some teams). Pay is low as well as raises.

It was low when I joined, lol. I think it's still fairly low. As long as you can know the basics, you should be fine. Probably look up GlassDoor reviews.

It's probably lower due to location. Low cost of living there and that's a part of their pitch to you. TC will be in line with that low COL.
