I got offers from MS Azure Compute team and NVDIA. Both are in Redmond office in Great Seattle area. Now I tend to join MS considering the company brand and career growth. Will it be a good decision for career growth and potential money.

MS level is 63 and NVD level is IC4. The total comps are very similar (NVD's base and sign on are a little more than MS)

Go for Microsoft. The scope is larger.

Yes but the service is live from last 3 years in different form. Before Mac is it avail on Nvidia Shield.

I see. But still, great work! I can’t wait to use my laptop with a shitty graphic card to play PUBG with the highest resolution!

At MS 3 year old product is generally considered new .. BTW shield is crap

I would choose Microsoft as well vs Nvidia team in Redmond. At Microsoft you will be working at HQ, Nvidia in Redmond is 150 ppl satellite office. You will feel at that Nvidia team that you are always on the sidelines from main action. For me it was a big deal and the main reason I left it.

MS if only because the stock is less volatile. NVDA is a high risk overpriced stock. Also depends on how much of your comp is in stock...

Anyway the specific team is probably more important

Nvidia is cool. Microsoft appears to be improving. You have two good choices.

Is IC4 a senior role in NVD? In the offer I was offered a senior SDE title. They gave me 400 RSU units (HR said around 90k) which is less then MS. HR told me NVD has yearly bonus but did not mention how much.

Too many senior levels IMHO :) IC3 is senior, so is. IC4 and IC5. Is IC6 also senior? Because IC7 is for sure principal level.

HR lied. There is no yearly bonus at nvidia for engineers. IC3-5 is senior, IC6 is principal, IC7 is distinguished

Thanks. I checked with HR, she told me IC4 is a senior role. NVD has different senior levels.

IC4 at Nvidia is not L63 at Microsoft. It’s more like L61-62. Eve though pay at Nvidia might be comparable or even better. But scope wise or responsibility it will be rather junior position. Ask for at least IC5. Mention you have L63 Mucrosoft offer.

Nvidia does not have bonus and Microsoft does. Nvidia, at least when I was there didn’t issues RSUs for IC4 and L63 at Microsoft you get it plus yearly refresh. Compare total comp for next 4 years.

I would argue Nvidia has more headroom to grow. Going from 200-400B is easier than 600-1.2T

IMHO, let the work guide your decision. The money will come. It doesn’t make any difference how much you make if your not happy.

I had this choice and chose Microsoft... although I'm in the ML world I did not know the NVIDIA stock would explode. Microsoft stock is quietly rising whereas NVIDIA is on 🔥
