I'm expecting an offer in Singapore. Pay & QoL will definitely be better there, but what I'm worried about is the fact that very few major tech companies have Engineering teams in Singapore, as compared to India. So if I want to switch jobs down the line, it might be very difficult. Anyone care to weigh in ? How's the tech scene & the job market in Singapore ?
Which company, your YOE and expected TC? I'm also planning to move. Following.
2 yoe. I'll update the TC & company details once I actually get the offer
I have the exact same doubt
How'd you get the job frm india?
Singapore has many tech jobs. The biggest employer in Tech may be Citibank and mostly Govt companies like Singtel. After a few years you will get bored by a tiny 30x40km island that packages Dictatorship as a Democracy. Media is pretty much owned by Govt. And the op-eds and debates skew pro-Govt.
Dude. Singapore is expensive as hell. Not sure about your TC, but make sure you are earning comparable to investment guys.
You definitely won't make anything close to investment wages as an engineer in Singapore. TC likely won't crack $100k. It's also prob not as expensive as you think.
Definitely worth the move. At least Google, FB, Zendesk, Grab, and Redmart have eng presence in SG. The pay and quality of life is 100x better than India.
Expected TC?
I didn't have any idea about Singapore payscale, so I told them to make the first offer.
