I have been working in Amazon India from last 3 years (got 1 promotion in between from SDE 1 to 2). My salary is more than double since the time I have joined Amazon and reached at 36.5 LPA TC (current comp, base 25.5L, 11L stocks). I have got offer from Uber India for 57LPA TC (cash 44L, 13L stock). Is it advisable to switch for Money from Amazon? I am pretty much comfortable here and liking the culture of Amazon which is not liked by many. :) It will take 2.5-3 years for me in Amazon to gain knowledge to grow to next level (SDE3) and same will be the case in Uber. However, for newly promoted SDE3 in Amazon, comp start from 60+LPA which Uber is already offering. Need help from experienced folks who have faced similar kind of situation in past. Thanks a lot in advance. What are the parameters which you consider before switching job? Edit: There was no motivation for me to apply for Uber, just applied to see if I can crack their interview process. Total YOE- 5 years.
Take it.. you can always come back if you donโt like it
Is there even a question? You are getting salary bump of more than 50%, why don't you want to join?
So salary bump always be given the preference. :)
Why not? He is young, he can spend extra hours if needed. In terms of wlb, I don't think Uber is any different from Amazon. With the salary bump he can save more. When compound interest kicks in, he can probably retire 5-10 years earlier than what he would have done with current salary
Take it. Also how much time did it take to get promoted at Amazon ? Does total yoe matter when being promoted ?
Got promoted in 1 years 3 months. No it doesn't.
Sounds like an attractive offer. Take it.

When you applied to Uber .. dint you already had the motivation and parameters figured out... to go through Uber interview process.... May be it was money or just Uber
I applied to see if I can crack their interview process or not :)
Ok .. now you know you cracked it ... take the offer then and try again same strategy for Amazon:)
