Is it easy to promote? Does this depend more on your own work or the manager? How long can they promote on average for each level?
Simple rules. 1. Be nice 2. Get shit done 3. Don't complain 4. Ask for promotion
Dealing with this shit for a couple of years. Promotion here is not based on performance. Its based on what your leader thinks about you.
This has been my experience in ECP. All depends on managers. Performance has played zero roll in my (lack) of promotions. I question the status quo while pushing for improvements and have seen zero promotions or compensation adjustments.
Come to ECP you will be promoted every year
does this still hold true? what about for data scientists (ML)?
SDE to SDE II could take a couple years.
If you want a promotion sooner than your team wants to promote you, go interview for another position at the level you want. If the new team thinks you’re at that level then boom, promotion!
I know bunch of folks working there and they claim it is a very laid back company. Most of the promotions are manager dependent from what I heard.
