Is it normal to get >250k for 2 years of experience

Just saw a post from someone with 2 yoe getting an offer of 280k from Salesforce as a SMTS.
Do they have niche skills which command such high offers or is it just a matter of competing offers and companies willing to pay you so much.
What other tech companies pay similar to Salesforce for someone with 2 yoe. I know hedge funds/finance companies will easily pay that much but looking specifically for tech companies.

TC 140k

There you go. TC is not so much for YOE. It’s for the level. @Leet_God

Well I was offered 230 at Seattle for SDE2 with 2 Yoe. So yeah I know the rate. 280 is what surprised me. Not even fb offers that

Edited my phrasing: It's not normal but doable in FAANG. TC 500k, 4 yoe

im playing of course, i just wanted to show you how easy it is to lie here. Nobody with 4 yoe makes 500k. facebook or linkedin included. Far from it

Not lying, but I didn't phrase it correctly, updated. E6 with base 225k + 20% bonus + RSU

I know someone who was E6 with 4 yoe. He may be an exception, not sure. He joined FB after college and is still there. Currently at E7 with 6 yoe.

    • Right, there are L6s and L7s with less than 10 YOE at Uber who joined 4 years ago when it was still in hyper-growth stages and a lot easier to make an impact. (And get promoted too.)

Engineering-wise, most I met are above average but far from extraordinary.

  • This isn’t normal at all. Even within FAANGMULA.

Also, some people don’t calculate TC correctly — they add the entire value of the 4-year grant onto the yearly TC for example.

Alternatively, they won’t mention any stock appreciation that happened while they were at the company. So if you joined FB in December 2018 when it dipped to $120, obviously your TC will be crazy high.

Not normal. Amazon 2 years out of school would be 140-150k at max for SDE1, 180k for if promoted to SDE2 within this time.

For Bay Area add around 15% to that, so 170k for SDE1, 200k for SDE2.

Not normal, but very doable. Especially with stock appreciations
