🚨More META layoffs!?!
I like to research what new vehicles are going for. I plan to use this information to decide how much they actually depreciate in the few years (most ppl calculate depreciation from msrp). I mostly buy used and just like to know if its really worth it. Think of it as a hobby. So is it rude/am i wasting their time knowing i don't plan to buy in the short term. I just email them once, they reply with a quote and keep reaching out to me on email but i never reply back Tc:80k
It's fine. They can choose to establish good relationship with you and expect your business once you are ready. Or they can choose not to respond.
You can go to carsdirect.com to find the price relevant to zip code.
Not sure about ride but you are deliberately wasting their time so it’s difficult to rationalize it as okay. That being said I doubt they’ll spend more than 5 minutes whipping off a quote, but will hound you for weeks to reply. You can likely get statistically relevant info from a no-haggle dealers website, or one of the dealer consolidation portals. Or scrape autotrader maybe? Seems your making this more difficult that it needs to be...
I have used kbb fair purchase price and truecar but they are overpriced. Dealer quotes are usually less
If you know the make and model that you want, call multiple dealerships and ask for their internet sales person. Ask for the best price over the phone and after calling a few dealerships, go and buy from the best price. You can avoid so much trouble and get the best price this way. Remember that you have the most leverage before you go to a dealership in person. You might be surprised at the wide price range of the quotes you get for the exact same car.
Second this. I had quotes of from 18500 to 22500 for the cars Cheapest quote I got was for a dealership 100 miles away....worth the drive !!!!
Not at all just call them for a quote. They already know how much they can sell a car for without all the drama, but they prefer to play games. Don’t play their games just tell them you are calling multiple dealers in the area and gathering quotes.
Do it
It is fine
Beware of civility red herrings in transactions. It's never rude to want more info. Even if you are just window shopping. They rely on you feeling pressure or shame.
Yeah i really liked one car and wanted to buy it but i have immense self control so i think i can play this russian roulette.
